چکیده

We review the investigation of a single quantum dot driven by a strong optical field. By coherent pumpprobe spectroscopy, we demonstrate the Autler–Townes splitting and Mollow absorption spectrum in a single neutral quantum dot. Furthermore, we also show the typical Mollow absorption spectrum by driving a singly charged quantum dot in a strong optical coupling regime. Our results show all the typical features of an isolated atomic system driven by a strong optical field, such as the AC stark effect, Rabi side bands and optical gain effect, which indicate that both neutral and charged quantum dots maintain the discrete energy level states even at high optical field strengths. © 2009 Elsevier Ltd. Quantum current modeling in nano-transistors with a quantum dot

Carbon quantum dots (CQDs) serve as a new class of ‘zero dimensional’ nanomaterial’s in thecarbon class with sizes below 10 nm. As light emitting nanocrystals, QDs are assembled from semiconductormaterials, from the elements in the periodic groups of II-VI, III-V or IV-VI, mainly thanks to impacts of quantum confinement QDs have unique optical properties such as brighter, highly pho...

All-Optical Ultrafast Control and Read-Out of a Single Negatively Charged Self-Assembled InAs Quantum Dot

We demonstrate the all-optical ultrafast manipulation and read-out of optical transitions in a single negatively charged self-assembled InAs quantum dot, an important step towards ultrafast control of the resident spin. Experiments performed at zero magnetic field show the excitation and decay of the trion (negatively charged exciton) as well as Rabi oscillations between the electron and trion ...

Bias-Induced Optical Absorption of Current Carrying Two-Orbital Quantum Dot with Strong Electron-Phonon Interaction (Polaron Regime)

The one photon absorption (OPA) cross section of a current carrying two-orbital quantum dot (QD) with strong electron-phonon interaction (polaron regime) is considered. Using the self-consistent non-equilibrium Hartree-Fock (HF) approximation, we determine the dependence of OPA cross section on the applied bias voltage, the strength of effective electron-electron interaction, and level spacing ...

Simulation evidence for lateral excitation transfer in a self-assembled quantum-dot array

Simulations of InAlAs/AlGaAs self-assembled quantum-dot arrays containing as many as 30 individual dots are used to identify a mechanism for lateral excitation transfer through partially delocalized heavy-hole states. Individual hole states exhibit wave-function splitting between several dots in the array, as well as partial confinement in the wetting layer, and have strong overlap with multipl...

Absorptive and dispersive optical responses of excitons in a single quantum dot

The authors have determined both the real and imaginary parts of the dielectric polarizability of a single quantum dot. The experiment is based on the observation and the manipulation of Rayleigh scattering at photon frequencies near the resonance of an optical exciton transition in single self-assembled InAs and InGaAs quantum dots. The interference between the narrow-band laser field and the ...
